NIHR Research Programme for Social Care Events

Date: 29/10/2025 to 30/10/2025 Venue: Glasgow Caledonian University’s School of Social Work, and Edinburgh School of Social and Political Science

The NIHR Research Programme for Social Care (RPSC) is running two free events in Scotland in October for researchers who are considering applying for funding in this area

Supported by NHS Research Scotland (NRS) and the Scottish Government’s Chief Scientist Office (CSO), RPSC funds research which aims to “improve, expand and strengthen the way social care is provided for users of care services, carers, the social care workforce, and the public across the UK”.

The programme is encouraging applications from researchers working across Scotland at all career stages and includes a sub-stream for early career researchers as well as funding for capacity building.

RPSC invites proposals from higher education institutions, charities, local authorities/governments and relevant third sector organisations — and will be placing a particular focus on spreading the word in Scotland at the end of October.

The in-person gatherings — taking place in Glasgow and Edinburgh — will be an opportunity for researchers to learn more about the programme, how to apply, connect with fellow researchers, share insights, and collaborate on projects, with attendees now invited to register.

The Glasgow event will take place on Wednesday 29 October from 1-4pm at Glasgow Caledonian University’s School of Social Work, while the Edinburgh event will be happening on Thursday 30 October from 10am-1pm at the Edinburgh School of Social and Political Science, part of the University of Edinburgh.
