Applications to Scottish cohort of Principal Investigator Pipeline Programme urged this week

Scottish applications are being invited this week for an opportunity to help develop the skills, knowledge, and experience to become a Principal Investigator leading vital research

A fresh cohort can now apply to be part of the Principal Investigator Pipeline Programme (PIPP), delivered jointly by Edinburgh and Glasgow Clinical Research Facilities, with a closing date of this Sunday (8 November).

The programme—now in its third cohort after being opened to applicants working in Scotland—is a free, structured development initiative from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

The 12-18-month programme invites research delivery nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (NMAHPs), in addition to pharmacists, healthcare scientists and registered social work or public health professionals, to develop as Principal Investigators on NIHR portfolio studies.

The programme involves live online training sessions, networking, and opportunities to reflect on the experiences of Sub-Investigators and Principal Investigators.

Key benefits for participants include:

  • Building research leadership skills and confidence
  • Applying new learning to your current role
  • Becoming a visible PI in your organisation
  • Joining a supportive community of developing research leaders to share learning and experiences

Full programme details are available to those considering applying.

To be eligible, you must be a registered health and care professional and work in a research delivery capacity for at least 50% of your role. This can be in primary, secondary or out of hospital settings.

The Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility is welcoming email enquiries.
