Reserve your place for this month’s Preconception Health Research Showcase in Stirling
A Scottish Preconception Health Research Showcase happening later this month is inviting attendees to delve into the latest findings and ideas shaping the future of health before pregnancy.
The free in-person event will take place on Thursday 26 March at Stirling Court Hotel, part of The University of Stirling campus, from 9am till 5pm.
Organisers say it is an opportunity to hear from a collaborative community of experts, connect with researchers, share insights, success stories, and explore exciting projects which hold significant promise for future ambitions.
All are welcome to come along, contribute, and get inspired, whether working in the area of preconception health or just curious to hear about the latest developments.
You may wish to attend if interested in helping to shape the future of preconception health research in Scotland – from members of the public, researchers, healthcare professionals, and third sector organisations, to policy makers, civil servants, or anyone doing related preconception work.
Preconception health is crucial for improving maternal and child health outcomes by addressing existing conditions, managing risks, and optimising physical and mental health, with research targeting interventions that support healthier pregnancies and child health.
The showcase has been organised by Dr Sinéad Currie, Lead for the Scottish Preconception Health Research Network (SPHRN) – a multidisciplinary team working under the umbrella of the NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Reproductive Health and Childbirth Specialty Group.
The gathering is hosted by SPHRN and funded by The Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Sinéad, an executive committee member of the UK Preconception Partnership, said: “We’re looking forward to an informative, interactive day in Stirling with much to discuss.
“We believe it will offer an excellent opportunity for helping to set a future agenda for Scottish preconception health research as well as exchanging knowledge that will inform its direction of travel.
“The SPHRN is adept at facilitating partnerships, attracting and maximising funding, and ensuring research is aligned with Scottish populations needs.
“That ethos will be right to the fore as we welcome all to Stirling this March. We hope you can join us.”
