Hosted by the West of Scotland Innovation Hub in partnership with South East of Scotland Innovation Hub (HISES) and the NHS North of Scotland Innovation Hub, this event offers a valuable opportunity to engage directly with colleagues from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and gain insight into the evolving regulatory landscape for healthcare innovation.

The programme will cover:

The evolving UK regulatory framework for medical devices
CTIMP/CIMD studies
Post-market surveillance and safety monitoring
Innovative regulatory pathways for medicines

The session will provide practical insight into the processes that help bring new medicines, medical devices and AI-enabled technologies safely into healthcare. A rare opportunity to directly engage with the MHRA, for colleagues within the innovation ecosystem in Scotland.

Medical Research Council (MRC) Development Pathway Funding Scheme (DPFS) / Proof of Concept applicant webinar Show more Show less

The MRC Proof of Concept scheme (formerly known as the Developmental Pathway Funding Scheme) reopens for stage one applications on 2 July 2026, with the next deadline on 18 November 2026.

Ahead of this funding opportunity opening, the MRC Translational Research Team will deliver a webinar for potential applicants on Tuesday 2 June, 11:00-12:15.

The webinar will provide:

An overview of the MRC Proof of Concept scheme
Information on what the MRC is looking for in an application
Information on the application and assessment process
Tips for writing a successful stage one application
An opportunity for questions and answers

Edinburgh Clinical Trial Management Course 2026 3rd & 4th Dec 2026 Show more Show less

This two-day course has been running for more than two decades to support the professional development of anyone involved or interested in clinical trial management.

The aims of the course are:

To develop attendees’ knowledge and skills in clinical trial management.
To improve attendees’ understanding of related disciplines including research governance, regulation, trial methodology, data management, monitoring, and project management, with a view to effective teamworking
To highlight the importance of Research Inclusion, including Patient Public Involvement and

Engagement (PPIE), and the need for efficiency in trial design and conduct. These threads will run through the whole course.

The course consists of a variety of workshops, practical tasks and lectures. Interactive sessions cover key topics associated with setting up and delivering clinical trials. Sessions provide practical guidance and facilitate discussion, information exchange and provide plenty of networking opportunities.

The course is co-delivered by The Universities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
